Hello there, speedsters! Welcome back to my blog!
To keep up with my goal of consistency in my blog, I am back with another edition of Waiting On Wednesday! There are so many amazing releases coming out every week, and so many that are yet to be released! I’m sure I’m not the only one crippling under the impending doom of new books. Publishers really don’t have no mercy, don’t they?
What is Waiting On Wednesday?
It is a weekly event that was originally created by Jill @ Breaking the Spine. Because Jill isn’t hosting it anymore, the event has now linked with Can’t Wait Wednesday, which is based on WOW and is hosted by Tressa @ Wishful Endings.
This week, I’m waiting for…
Frankly in Love by David Yoon
High school senior Frank Li is a Limbo–his term for Korean-American kids who find themselves caught between their parents’ traditional expectations and their own Southern California upbringing. His parents have one rule when it comes to romance–“Date Korean”–which proves complicated when Frank falls for Brit Means, who is smart, beautiful–and white. Fellow Limbo Joy Song is in a similar predicament, and so they make a pact: they’ll pretend to date each other in order to gain their freedom. Frank thinks it’s the perfect plan, but in the end, Frank and Joy’s fake-dating maneuver leaves him wondering if he ever really understood love–or himself–at all.
Okay, please tell me I’m not the only one freaking out? I know I’m not, as this is one of the most anticipated books of the fall season for a lot of people. But listen, this just sounds so excellent, okay? I could actually burst into tears thinking about how badly I want to read this.
I am an absolute sucker for YA contemporary romance, and this looks like it’s going to be chock-full of heart, self-discovery, and swoons! And of course, Frank is going through an identity crisis, and same.
This has the fake dating trope, and I am shaking from excitement, holy hell! And Frank looks like the kind of character I will just fall in love with and want to protect, and honestly, I’m not mad. Plus, that cover? Literal 3D perfection. (Fun fact: Did you know that the first print run of Frankly in Love will have blue-stained edges? Get to pre-ordering that stunner!!)
Also, the book trailer Penguin Teen made for the book made 10x more excited and now I need this to be a movie! If you haven’t given it a watch, check it out! Be blessed by this excellence:
(The bar for book trailers has been raised really high, just saying.)
Release date: September 10th, 2019
And that concludes this blog post!
Are you as excited about Frankly in Love as I am? Have you added it to your TBR? Have you preordered it yet?
What book are you waiting for this week?
I hope you all enjoyed and I’ll see you on the next one.
